South Australia has the same first day of school for all children which means that every child has four terms of Reception before they go on to the rest of their primary schooling. It means a more stable environment for children with fewer changes to classes throughout the year.
If your child turns 5 before 1 May, they can start primary school at the beginning of the same year. This is known as Reception.
In South Australia, from 2024 there will be a mid-year Reception intake into primary schools :
From 2024, if your child turns 5 years between 1 May and 31 October, they can start school either:
– term 3 of the same year
– or term 1 of the following year
Students enrolled through a mid-year intake will complete 6 terms of Reception.
Students transferring from overseas may be entitled to access the IELC program after the child turns five at any time in the year.
Please contact the school as early as possible for more information or to arrange an enrolment meeting or tour.
Enrolment in the Intensive English Language Program (IELP) at Clovelly Park is continuous throughout the Year. To be eligible for the IELP, students need to be enrolled within 12 months of arrival in Australia, or 18 months in the case of students entering reception or year 1. IELP eligible students are able to enrol in the current year when they turn 5.
