Parents and carers are a vital part of our school community and we welcome their participation in our school. Classroom involvement includes storytelling, listening to children read, helping with craft activities and attending excursions. In the wider school community it includes helping in the school canteen or library, fundraising, working bees, sporting teams, helping in the Community Garden or joining the Governing Council.
To ensure that students are able to learn in a safe, respectful and well organised environment all parents/carers and members of the community who help in our school on a regular basis are required to complete volunteer training which we offer at the beginning of the school year.
Parents and carers volunteering in our school to support their own child’s education will not need to have a relevant history screening (police check) unless they are attending overnight camps/sleepovers or coach a sports team. All other volunteers will need to undertake the relevant history screening. More information can be found on the Department for Communities and Social Inclusions website.
